The hotel is ideally located just off O’Connell Street, in the heart of Dublin city and following a complete rebuild and expansion, it offers 285 deluxe rooms of 4-star quality.

It is centrally located off the city's main thoroughfare, a short stroll from the best of international shopping, galleries, Trinity College, St Stephens Green and Temple Bar. Rooms are contemporary in design and finished to very high standards. We have introduced several new facilities to help further enhance your stay including 24-hour front desk, room service, and discounted guest and coach parking nearby. Disabled facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is also available throughout the hotel. Further guest facilities due for completion later in the year include a gym, business centre, games room and conference room for up to 135 delegates. The prime location, excellent facilities and modern rooms makes this the perfect hotel choice for business or pleasure.

All public areas in the hotel have been totally redesigned and extended. On the ground floor this includes a large, marble clad lobby and foyer area, complemented by large comfortable leather couches and 3 lifts.

Indulge the senses with our selection of mouth-watering cuisine in one of 3 dining areas. Sir Harry's Bar and bistro offers extensive menu throughout the day and evening, 7 days a week.

Oscars Restaurant is open for breakfast from 07:00 daily, while our fine-dining Asian restaurant, Abacus, is open nightly from 17.00 and offers an extensive selection of Chinese delicacies and full bar.

Room information

The bedrooms at the Best Western Academy Plaza hotel are decorated in strikingly stylish and rich colours. The carpets are a modern take on a traditional squared design and incorporate strong reds and blacks. The walls are a relaxing and sophisticated beige which blends in an almost enchanting unison with the cream net window dressings and warm rust curtains. The beds incorporate black leather headboards and are finished with solid wood bedside units with reading lamps and a streamline telephone.

Additional furnishings include a solid wood integrated work-desk with a modern styled black and cream coloured chair, a round glass-topped occasional table with a solid chrome base and a comfortable arm-chair with matching colours to the work-desk chair.

The rooms create an inspired blend of colours which works to create an energetic fusion of modernity while simultaneously recognising and reflecting some of the finer points of a traditional hotel experience.

The contemporary en suite has been decorated in high quality beige coloured tiles throughout and a silk-feel cream coloured shower curtain in bath or walk-in shower. The white sink unit has a solid black marble surround.

Area information

The Best Western Academy Plaza Hotel is situated at 10-14 Findlater Place, just off O'Connell Street, in the heart of Dublin city. It is just a short stroll from the very best of international shopping, Temple bar, Trinity college, St. Stephens Green, galleries and famous city sights.

The Academy Plaza is within minutes of the IFSC and business district. The air coach and the Dublin city bus tour leave from right beside the hotel and Dublin's central bus station and main train station are both within 8 minutes walking distance. The city's new light rail system, LUAS, is only a 5 minute stroll and is a great way of getting to some of Dublin best tourist attractions.

Nice furnishings in the room, and the bed linen was great.

Having to pay extra for the breakfast. I didnt like that, as one could
not get a cup of tea and a crossant only, which meant in effect we had
to pay 12 euro for even a small breakfast

proximity to city centre-convenient but expensive car parking-relaxed atmosphere for children

We used this hotel as a base for going to the oxegen festival. The bus stop was only minutes walk away and there were plenty of places open late night to grab something to eat on the way home. I thought the 'super soft' beds were going to be a let down, but they really were super soft.. almost too comfortable, hard to get up in the mornings!!!

Only thing i can think of is that the carpet was like something out of fear and loathing in las vegas.. not sure if thats a bad thing though ;-)

Very central for shops etc.. We parked the car up and used the bus from right outside the hotel.

We found the bed uncomfortable.

Hotel staff were not very helpful. The room was in a very bad location with lots of noise. The fire alarm went off at 2:00am or so and we called the front desk but no answer.. after a couple minutes they answer and said someone was smoking in one of the rooms and made the fire alarm to go off. Very noisy, not a pleasant stay at all. The room was clean.

the location of the room they gave us was very poor.

Excellent all together, really! Would stay there again any time. Great central location. Very clean room. Big, confortable beds. Bathroom has bath tub and shower. All very nicly decorated. Great TV programs. Breakfast was very english and excellent.

Could increase varity of the breakfast. Would be great to have a minibar - fridge in the bedroom. Long cues for wireless internet at reception. Would need to increase internet points.

room was a good size. If a triple room, would have liked 3 separate beds, rather than 1 double and a single. Location just off O'Connell st.

breakfast was poor, service slow, stewed tea. Poor value for money, eat at Gresham round the corner.

Location, location, location

Breakfast is too expensive, although I know that hotels charge that amount elsewhere. It would be great to have a 7 euro continental breakfast.
